Thanks so much!

Starcrossed

synopsis from goodreads:

How do you defy destiny?

Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—no easy task on an island as small and sheltered as Nantucket. And it’s getting harder. Nightmares of a desperate desert journey have Helen waking parched, only to find her sheets damaged by dirt and dust. At school she’s haunted by hallucinations of three women weeping tears of blood . . . and when Helen first crosses paths with Lucas Delos, she has no way of knowing they’re destined to play the leading roles in a tragedy the Fates insist on repeating throughout history.

As Helen unlocks the secrets of her ancestry, she realizes that some myths are more than just legend. But even demigod powers might not be enough to defy the forces that are both drawing her and Lucas together—and trying to tear them apart.

Sounds awesome right?
Yes it is!
But now, please meet Helen and Lucas:

Hi Helen, Hey  Lucas, I’m so glad you had time to come over here
and answer some questions!

Lucas: Thanks for asking us.

Helen, can you describe how it was for you when you saw Lucas for the first time?

Helen: Um, well. I sort of kind of… tried to strangle him?

Lucas: She tried. Helen’s not too good at fighting, though.

Helen: Not good at all. (Helen groans and Lucas smiles at her.)

Lucas, how did you feel when you first saw Helen?

Lucas: I’d rather not talk about that. (He says with a definite shake of his head, the memory obviously unpleasant for him.) I can tell you what I thought about Helen when I first saw her, though.

Helen: (turning to him, intrigued) What did you think about me?

Lucas: I thought you’d be shorter. My sister warned me that you and I would probably meet eventually, I just wasn’t expecting you to be so damn tall.

Did you realize that Helen had absolutely no clue who and what she is?

Lucas: Not really. Not at first. I knew something was off, but I didn’t know just how in the dark Helen was about her heritage until later.

Helen: Pitch dark! (She interjects, agreeing.) Like a mushroom.

Lucas: I like mushrooms– they’re cute. And delicious. (He says under his breath. They catch each other’s eyes, tentative smiles tugging on their lips.)

Would you maybe describe why Helen is so special?

Lucas: Helen’s special? I hadn’t noticed. (She pinches him) Ow! Such a brute.

Helen: Uh-huh. Keep talking. (She warns him playfully)

Lucas: (Turning from Helen and getting back to answering the question) You know what? I think it’d be easier to talk about what isn’t special about Helen.

Okay. Tell me what isn’t special about Helen—apart from the fact that she can’t fight.

Lucas: She’s a terrible singer. (Helen covers her face with her hands, trying to hide.) I’m not exaggerating. (He continues, mercilessly ignoring Helen’s embarrassment.) She’s got to be the worst singer I’ve ever heard.

Helen: He’s right! (Helen admits, her face bright red.) I couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket.

Don’t blush Helen, he’s just stating the obvious! But go ahead and tell us why Lucas isn’t so special:)

Helen: What’s not special about Lucas? (She muses to herself for a moment, starting at him, before finally deciding.) His penmanship.

Lucas: Really? I didn’t think it was that bad.

Helen: You’re penmanship is practically illegible! It’s like a five-year-old’s!

Lucas: And that’s all that’s wrong with me? (He teases.) Just my penmanship?

Helen: Yeah, that’s pretty much it. (They stare at each other for a long moment, their smiles a growing sad.) The rest of you is sort of perfect.

Lucas you are living with a really big family, how is it to be surrounded always by so many people?

Lucas: Noisy. And, since there are so many athletic boys all fight training together, a little sweaty. Especially Hector.

Helen: He’s got to be the sweatiest dude I’ve ever seen. (Helen agrees, wrinkling her nose like she can smell Hector from here.) Every time we train I worry he’s going to drown me.

(Lucas chuckles)

Isn’t it even harder to hide that you all are so “special” with all of you being together?

Lucas: I guess so, but that’s not what’s really important to us. We’re a family. We stick together no matter what.

Helen you just grew up with your Dad, did you wish you had a bigger family, maybe some siblings?

Helen: (Looking longing at Lucas, her voice barely above a whisper.) I have more family than I can handle, actually.

Thanks so much guys, it was a real pleasure having you here.

  3. Ah, I'm sooo looking forward to reading Starcrossed and meeting Helen and Lucas! They seem adorable!<3

As for my favorite starcrossed couple… I don't know, I can't pick just one now. But how about Landon and Jamie from A walk to remember? That's such a wonderful, heartbreaking story…*dreamy sigh*

Oh, my favorite starcrossed lovers would have to be Cassie Clare's Mortal Instruments' Jace and Clary before they found out that they're not really siblings. I mean how horrible would it be to find out that the person I loved was actually my brother? That would be terrible!

Hm … Hero and Leander, from the Greek story. Tragic and yet hopefuly – the two lovers taking it onto themselves to define their destiny, knowing they couldn't be together. Great stuff! Thanks!

  6. I'm going to be slightly different and say Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano from the tv show My So Called Life – not really sure they were Star-Crossed, but to me they were. 🙂

  7. As far as YA goes, I definitely think Jace and Clary from The Mortal Instruments series. In the beginning, that was the most agonizing relationship I suffered through. So sad!

Classically speaking, definitely Tristan and Isolde. ;D

I love this post but thats such a hard question!! It's sooo hard to choose. ok… SOME of my favorite starcrossed lovers are Rose and Dmitri (Vampire Academy), Jace and Clary (Mortal Instruments), and… Peeta and Katniss (Hunger Games)! Yup. Definitely some of my favorite starcrossed lovers 🙂

I absolutely cannot get around this, my answer is always going to be Romeo and Juliet or maybe even Tristan and Isolde, I can't hardly choose between the two. They both are so amazingly beautiful. 🙂

I've always liked the story of Tristan and Isolde. There was a great movie about them starring James Franco and Sophia Myles. I've watched it lots of times! 🙂

Romeo & Juliet definitely! As cliché as it sounds I've always love their story since I was a child. My mom is this huge romantic person & she would always tell me their story. 🙂

I will go for the most obvious answer and say that like so many others Romeo and Juliet are my favorite starcrossed lovers. Their story is a classic !!!! and Tristan and Isolde as a close second

Thanks for this chance! I'd love to win a signed ARC! 🙂
My favorite couple is: the vampires Elizabeth Anne Taylor and Eric Sinclair, from the 'Undead' series by MaryJanice Davidson. They are such a fun couple (if a bit weird)! 🙂

  15. Just one favorite? That is hard. I would have to go with any of the following: Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rose Hathaway and Dimitri Belikov or Jace Lightwood and Clary Fray.
    My recent post FYI

Oh man that is hard because there are so many good ones, a lot that people have already mentioned. I don't know who my favorite couple is but I like Ash & Meaghan, Lucas & Bianca, Jace & Clary and so on. Oh wait I came up with some no one said (although I don't know if they are star-crossed but I will go with it) Dean & Lisa from (Supernatural, because I love the show) and Veronica and Logan from Veronica Mars (and since the show was canceled who knows what happened)!

  17. Wuthering Heights is one of my favorite books and was one of the first books I got as a child and again when I got my kindle. Of course I would say Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw.

  19. My favorite star-crossed lovers are Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth from Persuasion, Darcy and Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice, Morgan and Miach from Star of the Morning and Jace and Clary from Mortal Instruments. (Actually, my list goes on and on, but I have to keep it short or it wouldn't fit in the comments. 🙂
